Unit Group

The Unit Group in the inventory system allows defining multiple units for the same item, such as a sales unit, a storage unit, and a purchasing unit. This enables more accurate and flexible inventory management.

Written by Mohanad

In the inventory system, multiple units of measurement can be defined for the same item, enabling more flexible and accurate management of inventory, purchasing, usage, and stock-taking operations.

For example, a product such as milk can be handled using different units depending on its usage context: milliliters are used at the point of sale, bottles are used as the storage unit, and cartons are used as the purchasing unit. This variety of units helps improve inventory accuracy and ensures better integration across operational processes.

Additionally, a single unit group can be assigned to multiple inventory items when they share similar characteristics or usage logic, helping standardize configurations and simplify inventory management within the system.

Let’s now review the steps for adding a unit group to an inventory item:

  1. From the RETM dashboard, navigate to the Inventory section in the side menu, then select Settings, and finally choose Unit Groups.

2. You will then see the Unit Groups interface, which is dedicated to adding, managing, and editing unit groups within the inventory system. Through this interface, you can flexibly and accurately control the units of measurement associated with inventory items.

  • Conversion Preview:
This section displays how unit conversions are automatically applied, such as (carton → kilogram → gram), with the ability to adjust conversion values according to the item’s characteristics.

  • Unit Management:
The system provides flexible tools to add new units, edit existing ones, or delete them through dedicated control icons, making management easier and more efficient.
